British dog owners may be forced to microchip their pets and take out insurance, part of a proposed crackdown on the country's dangerous canines.

Foreclosure isn't just an economic problem facing people -- it affects pets, too. Many animals are abandoned by their owners and left to die in foreclosed homes.

It's possible there won't be an ark ready to file all the animals in two-by-two if the predicted flooding hits. So it will be up to pet owners to make plans for their four-legged family members ahead of time, according to Laurie Hagey, executive director of the Humane Society of North Central Iowa. "You love your pets, they're like members of the family," Hagey sai.
